Explore the award-winning practice of Filipina artist Marikit Santiago in the book For us sinners - an exquisite blend of artwork sketches, journal entries, photography, and texts to Marikit’s seminal solo exhibition at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art in 2022.

Based in Western Sydney, Marikit works across painting and sculpture to portray the cultural references, social values and aesthetics of her Filipina ancestry, as well as the Western Art canon and devotional iconography of Catholicism. The book dives into the artist's early concepts and creative explorations for the show. Particularly, it looks into the historical and folkloric themes through her role as a modern-day woman, mother, wife, and daughter to three kids (who often collaborate with her on her paintings).

Marikit is the recipient of the Art Gallery of NSW’s Sulman Prize (2020) and La Prairie Award (2024), and will be presenting her biggest institutional show to date, Proclaim Your Death! at Campbelltown Arts Centre, NSW from January 4 to March 16, 2025.
